New independent label hailing from Poland, DRVMS LTD sets its first stone with Overtime, a 4-tracker EP by Portuguese underground producer A Thousand Details also affiliated with labels such as Faut Section, ARTS or Wunderblock Records.
Overtime EP feels like the start of an anticipated journey. With hardly any breaks, the 4 tracks are dense, with dark atmospheres reigned by drones and tribal elements creating an adventurous sonic world befit for the most sombre dance floors.
Peter Parrot Wants to Die is as morbid as its title. The opening track of the EP feels like a race against the endless corridor that is time, constantly shifting balance between the archaic past haunting like the distorted didgeridoo, and the unpredictable future dominated by aggressive drones.
With Overtime, we’re inside an overworked engine purring with exhaustion. Subdued kick-drums, spectral synths and reverberations fill the remaining space with a sense of restlessness.
Exafe is the most energetic track of the EP, presenting a defined 4-to-the-floor structure and a fat acid line that floats between the background and the forefront while a vocal-sounding loop keeps attention hypnotically rooted.
Closing the EP is Relegation Game, a track dominated by grinding noises, where paranoia is eased by the ghostly synth lines that create space for hope. The fantastic work of the hats vs the drone-like kick-drum adds to the overall escapist energy of the track.
Inescapably paranoid in the hypnotic loops its rooted on, Overtime EP offers an assorted pallet of dark greys perfect for DJs treading the darker corners of techno.
